Robinhood, but it’s my dog.

Renaissance Fairs are back! Two weekends ago on a rainy day, my husband and I made our dog Tovi a Robinhood costume so that this past weekend we could enter her into the pet costume contest at the Robinhood Faire.

Our poor sweet dog is very patient with all the fittings and measurements. She’s not helpful; she goes limp, but she doesn’t argue.

The costume consists of a shirt and collar, which I patterned and sewed myself, and a belt and quiver strap sewn on top with decorative top-stitching and all.

Jake made the quiver and arrows from felt and a paper-towel tube.

The hat was a collaborative effort; Jake patterned it and made the button, and I ran it through the machine.

For all of Tovi’s hard work modeling and performing on stage, she was awarded third place!

She lost to a dog in a jetpack, so it’s ok that we didn’t win 1st. Overall, the faire was a great success for all humans and dogs. It felt so good to be back!
