Crafty Crochet Bunting

This weekend I completed an ongoing piece of party décor that I’ve been chipping away at in my spare time. A crocheted bunting made with free yarn, the best kind of yarn.

My learning-how-to-crochet journey has really stalled out at doilies, tassels, and garlands because for the most part I refuse to count stitches or follow a pattern. I’ve learned enough stitches and basic shaping to make quick small crafts, and for now I’m pretty happy with that. If I have to count above 13, forget it, the project is not worth it. Everything I make still has that “homemade” look of inexperience, but with every project my stitches get a little more even, and my circles lay a little flatter.

The bauble stitch was a big accomplishment and I think I’ve already forgotten how to do them, but those tassels are easy and I love tassels. I’ll be sure to post an update of this bunting installed in it’s intended celebratory setting in about two months.
