Robin Hood’s Medieval Faire 2022

  • by
At the beginning of June Jake, myself, and several friends had a beautiful day at the Robinhood’s Medieval Faire in Harwinton, CT. We made a whole day of it, stopping for breakfast before the faire while the dogs were at their doggie resort.
Starting the day well nourished, we had extra energy for shopping, questing, a surely more eating. We arrived at the faire before opening, highly recommended, and found prime parking in the shade so the car stayed relatively cool all day even in the summer heat. We were greeted at the open gates by a row of actors doling out greetings and compliments. I felt a little like royalty.
We wasted no time in helping ourselves to the mimosa cart in the first isle. It was a medium-sized faire with all of the usual favorites. A baked-potato and lavender lemonade are becoming a bit of a tradition for us. Live-combat and shouting with old friends is always a good time.
What did we wear? A new take on the same old overflowing wardrobe. I made most of my costume, piling on the layers while Jake kept it a little more simple, which is smart in the heat. He turned his green jerkin inside-out and wore the red lining with his orange harem pants for a brand-new combination, which I quite liked.
We also lent some of our costume pieces to some friends who were first-timers in the medieval realm. They seemed to enjoy their day at the faire participating in the questing game, which I don’t have enough patience for. I like to wander the rows, aimlessly browsing, accomplishing nothing.
It was perfect weather and a convenient location. A good casual day in the past.
