A quick post for a project that took me a year. I wanted to make something big, but without a pattern or counting, so I endeavored to make Jake a poncho. This mass of yarn lived next to the couch for the better part of a year and I’d chip away at it watching TV in the chilly months when having essentially a blanket in progress on my lap was tolerable.

It is a rectangle with a hole in it. No need for counting; he would simply try it on periodically to make sure it was long enough. When it was finished we realized it can be worn in either orientation for a variety of looks. The v-neck orientation gives me confidence that I could make a primitive sweater essentially the same way.
