I crocheted a beach bag as a Christmas gift. I’ve made a bag similar to this before, so I knew I could make it nice.

I made up the pattern starting with an oval single-crocheted in-the-round. When the bottom was the desired size, I stopped the increases to take the sides vertical. For the straps I had to count out half-way on each side and then start decreasing back-and-forth. The pinnacle of the shoulder is straight, and then increases took the strap down to the other side. I joined the second strap to body with a seam.

The bag is made from unbleached cotton macrame rope. It’s very sturdy, but flexible. Great for taking a book and some snacks to the beach, or for carrying produce.

This year I skipped wrapping-paper and only used the brown paper that comes with deliveries, plus twine, ribbon, and found objects for decorating gifts.
