I have finished a watercolor painting in 2026. Between all my other hobbies, work, and a busy social calendar, I try to make sure I do one painting a year just for me. The bulk of that painting usually occurs in January.

After the holiday rush, as the weather is turning nasty, I hole-up in my studio on cold bright days and push water around. This piece is watercolor on hot-press paper. There is a little bit of permanent blue ink in the dark parts of the barn for a simple under-painting. The subject is my neighbor’s barn, which I look at every single day from six different windows in my house. My neighbor takes wonderful care of her yard and her barn and it’s a pleasure to view it through the changing light and seasons. The weathervane is ‘new’ as of two years ago, and tied the whole view together.

The painting is 12×16″ and I’ve matted it in an 18×24″ archival mat and bag. Now on view in my portfolio.
