Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens

  • by

Botanical Garden number three on our first RV trip to Nova Scotia were the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. We didn’t go out of our way for these gardens; the well-known and well loved property happened to be conveniently along our path up the west-coast. We spent the morning exploring Scottish-fields of heather, hardy mounding grasses, prickly stands of spruce and cypress, and a maze of roses.

The most stunning and surprising find were the castor beans plants! We’d never seen them before in person and here were whole gardens built to showcase their magnificence. I loved the pairing with canna lilies and snow-on the mountain.

Nature is so good. Fresh air and clean water are treasures that we take for granted.
