Celtic Bustle

  • by

Oh, how the year is flying by! I have another tartan garment to share, sewn for troupe use in our last performance, a Celtic Belly Dance fusion show. This piece was commissioned for a much taller dancer than I, so it doesn’t reach the ground when it’s worn by its intended. The pattern is loosely based off of a butterfly bustle, with many of my own modifications. It ties in the front for easy on/off between numbers.

Overall, my productivity is way up! If you can even believe it, considering how consistently industrious I already am. A little bit of sunshine goes a long way, but I know that other factors that help me stay on top of my mountain of work, (which at the moment are largely commissions, so yeah, work) include getting plenty of sleep, keeping a very pretty daily planner, completing my daily tasks before dinner, and generally fostering a positive mood.

Being happy is a great way to get a lot of things done, without even really trying. But being happy and making good use of my time, spending it the way that I want to, are two sides of the same coin for me. That doesn’t mean cramming as many chores and projects as possible into each week, but really the exact opposite. You have to care for yourself and for your space, and when the work is nurturing to your body, soul, or environment, then it’s a joy to get a lot done.
