Simple Knit Jersey Headband & Gardening

  • by

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you’re having a nice holiday weekend if you’re in the US. I’m sewing some clothes for dance, and while doing so I whipped together this twist-headband out of some scrap material. When life feels very full, quick crafts are satisfying.

Good for keeping my hair back while working in the garden. The garden is looking very beautiful but I am growing so impatient with the slow growth of my heat-loving plants. I’m wondering if something is wrong with them: they’re still so small. Hopefully it’s simply that the overnight temperatures have still been a little chilly for them.

My perennial herbs however could not be happier. Pictured above are garden sage and chives which come back bigger and bigger every year. I try to eat all of the flowers, as they are my favorite part of the plant.

The colorful, cold-loving leafy green vegetables are also thriving. We are enjoying salads every night with lettuces merlot, ice-queen, and may-queen, plus mizuna, spinach, arugula, Japanese mustard, and miniature bok choy.
