Printed Cotton Tie-on Dress

  • by

Wow, look at me using all of a particular fabric in short order rather than letting remnants sit in the stash for 20 years!

Last week I showed you a jumpsuit that I sewed from this printed cotton, and this week I have an equally summery tie-on-dress. A cross between a dress, a robe, and a caftan, the side seams are open and there are ties at the waist on both the front and back panels.

A franken-garment of my own imagining, the dress is super quick to put on and highly adjustable–like the robe I throw on in the morning to let the dogs out. It can be tied front or back second, depending on where I want the most cinch.

Concept and comfort proven, I’m imagining how the same idea could be used to make free-size tabards for layering.

What remnants remained I immediately cut into uniform quilting triangles and a bandana so that there where no odd shapes leftover for storage!
